GCF Fellowship Meeting

Date: Tuesday, 22 October, 2013
Time: 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Venue: Singapore Bible College, 9-15 Adam Road, Singapore 289886
Theme: The Race to Become Number One Without Losing Our Souls
Speakers: Mr Yong Teck Meng

Synopsis: The pressure to succeed materially has been a defining narrative of modern-day Singapore Society. Economic growth and well-being are often assumed to be the ultimate objective of what constitutes success in life. In light of this, how should Christians re-look their understanding of what it means to live an "abundant life"? What should be the approach we have towards achieving economic objectives? How can we negotiate the social contours of today's society in a biblically faithful manner and to be "salt and light" of our times?

Speaker Profile: Mr Yong Teck Meng is the National Director of Habitat for Humanity Singapore, a non-profit Christian housing organisation with a mission to eliminate poverty housing worldwide by building simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families themselves and volunteers. He present also pastors the English congregation of the Reformed Evangelical Church. Teck Meng is married to Patricia and they have two daughters.
